Pakistan’s armed forces on Sunday declared their commitment to swift and decisive action against any aggression, as senior military leaders commemorated the country’s defence forces and fallen soldiers on the 61st Defence and Martyrs’ Day. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the Chief of Defence Forces, along with the Chief of Army Staff and heads of the Navy and Air Force, paid tribute to those who died protecting the nation.

In a statement through its media wing, the military said the armed forces remain fully prepared to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The military reaffirmed its desire for peace, stability and prosperity in the region while emphasising that this commitment should not be interpreted as weakness. Officials stressed that any hostile action against Pakistan would provoke a swift response.

The military honoured generations of defenders who made sacrifices across land, sea and air. They paid respect to the surviving wounded and the families of the fallen, describing September 6 as an enduring symbol of national unity and courage. The armed forces renewed their pledge to fulfil their duties with professionalism and resolve, standing united with the nation.
