Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb marked Defence Day on Sunday with remarks honouring the country’s military personnel and those killed in service. She said the occasion was a moment for the nation to recommit itself to protecting Pakistan’s freedom, sovereignty and security. Aurangzeb noted that September 6 holds deep significance in Pakistan’s history and represents the unity and bravery of its armed forces. She referenced the 1965 war, stating that Pakistan’s army, navy and air force proved the nation fights not only with weapons but with faith, despite facing a larger adversary. The minister also cited recent military operations as examples of the country’s enduring resolve and resilience. She stressed that Pakistan needs the same spirit of national solidarity today as it showed during the 1965 conflict, and expressed gratitude to the families of fallen soldiers.
