The Foreign Office announced that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Sunday. The two officials discussed regional developments and agreed to maintain close contact regarding the Makkah Defence Alliance.
This alliance includes Turkey and was signed in August. It allows member states to treat an attack on one as an attack on all. The inaugural meeting of the strategic committee took place in Istanbul on August 31, where leaders agreed to strengthen collective defense measures.
