Applications are now open for the spring 2027 intake at the OIST graduate school. It is offering internships and research opportunities to students who wish to experience working in a research environment. OIST research internship is a fully funded internship program for all international students related to the field of STEM.
Additionally, the research internship program at OIST (Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology) is a short-term placement of 4-6 months. Students can choose a laboratory of their choice given the suitability of the academic background, intended research, available funding and space in the desired host unit. Eligibility Criteria
The following candidates are eligible to apply,
- If they are currently enrolled in their last two years of a bachelor’s degree,
- If they are enrolled in any year of a master’s degree in universities, colleges, junior colleges, and vocational schools in Japan or overseas,
- If they have already graduated with a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- If they will be in their final two years of a bachelor’s degree by the start of the proposed internship duration.
- Currently enrolled students must have approval from their home institution.
- Current or graduated PhD students are not eligible.
- Research Interns who belong to a Japanese university/institution must prepare and bring their own insurances when accepted to the OIST Research Internship Program.
