Speaking at a policy dialogue in Lahore, Naqvi stated that the existing structure can no longer handle current demands. He argued that creating new provinces is inevitable but must be done through political consensus and within the legal framework rather than by any single party.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif supported the idea of devolving power as a constitutional necessity. However, he criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party for what he called contradictory stances on the issue depending on which region is involved.
The PPP leadership in Sindh strongly opposed dividing the province. They warned that such moves threaten the unity and autonomy of Sindh and accused federal ministers of interfering in provincial affairs.
