Punjab’s Civil Defence department has removed 12 personnel from service and suspended 37 others in an internal accountability process carried out under the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, officials confirmed on Sunday. The action reflects the provincial government’s stated commitment to eliminating corruption and negligence within public institutions. The 12 dismissed staff members were from various districts across Punjab including Sargodha, Khushab, Multan, Lodhran, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Narowal and Bahawalpur. Among those suspended are one Civil Defence Officer, several assistants, senior clerks, instructors, rescue personnel and support staff from departments across the province. Formal suspension orders have been issued and proceedings initiated under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act. Additionally, seven Civil Defence officers have been transferred to different postings due to prolonged tenure in their previous positions and to meet administrative requirements.
