Acting on directions of PFA Director General(DG),Food safety teams inspected various areas of Lahore including Thokar Niaz Baig, Mohlanwal, Raiwind Road and Johar Town. Results from the inspections carried out under the direction of Punjab Food Authority Director General Mansoor Ahmed shows harmful bacteria.
Water samples collected from the plants failed quality tests, fines were imposed on some food and water units. The authority also found that some units did not keep records for timely filter replacement and had no mandatory documentation. Also medical and training certificates for food handlers were incomplete at several locations.
Poor sanitary conditions such as dirty freezers, foul-smelling premises and unclean walls were also noted at various places. The Punjab Food Authority said inspections are continuing across the province while legal action is being taken against violators.
