Security forces killed twenty-one militants from the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in multiple operations across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa between September 3 and 5, according to the military’s media wing. The killings bring the total number of militants neutralised in recent operations to twenty-five, including ten militants killed in a separate engagement along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan on August 31 and September 1.
In separate encounters, seven militants were killed in North Waziristan during an engagement along the border, while four additional militants died in two separate encounters in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan districts. The military said weapons and ammunition were recovered during follow-up operations and that sanitisation operations continue in affected areas.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces and stated that counter-terrorism operations under the national vision of Azm-e-Istehkam would continue until the elimination of foreign-sponsored terrorism. The military blamed Afghan Taliban authorities for failing to prevent Afghan soil from being used for cross-border militant activity and said Pakistan would persist in addressing the threat.
