The Inter-Services Public Relations stated that the slain individuals were sponsored by India and belonged to a group designated as Fitna-al-Khawarij. This term is used by the state to refer to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
Engagements took place in North Waziristan along the border with Afghanistan. Security forces initially killed 15 terrorists attempting to infiltrate from Afghanistan. A subsequent operation in the same area resulted in the death of another 10 terrorists, bringing the total for that event to 25.
In a separate incident in North Waziristan, security forces engaged and neutralized seven more members of a group moving along the border. Additionally, four other terrorists were killed during joint operations in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khel.
