Turkey’s navy has located the wreckage of a cargo ship that went down in the Sea of Marmara near Istanbul following a collision with an oil tanker earlier this week. The incident left 10 crew members missing. The empty oil tanker ALSU struck the Tugberk Imamoglu, which was carrying rolled steel, in a pre-dawn collision. Istanbul Governor Davut Gul announced the discovery, saying the wreck was found at a depth of 710 metres. A naval officer accompanying Gul said an underwater robot deployed near the bow section of the cargo vessel had obtained images showing significant damage to the vessel’s midship area, including a large rupture.
